Königssee Shipping

Another highlight in the Salzburg area is the Königsee lake in the Berchtesgaden National Park in Bavaria. A boat trip on the emerald green water amidst the steep rock faces is a memorable experience.

100 % Nature

The 8 km long Königssee with its crystal-clear water is located at the gates of the city of Salzburg in the Berchtesgadener Land district and is a popular destination for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts. While riding the electric passenger ship, you glide silently and environmentally friendly along the eastern face of the Watzmann towards the famous pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomew, which can be seen from afar with its distinctive red onion towers.

The Stations and Their Highlights

The boat ride to the peninsula of St. Bartholomew takes about 35 minutes, and the final stop Salet is another 20 minutes away. In St. Bartholomew, the visit to the historic pilgrimage church and a walk along the lakeshore are worthwhile. The shady beer garden of the St. Bartholomew tavern, the former hunting lodge of the Bavarian royal family, offers refreshments. From Salet, it takes a fifteen-minute walk to reach the Obersee, where the Hagen Mountains are reflected in its waters. Over 450 meters high, the Röthbach waterfall, Germany's highest waterfall, plunges into the depths at the end of the valley.

The Echo from Königssee

About 20 minutes after departure, the ship stops and guests are shown with a flugelhorn or a trumpet how the sound of the instrument echoes off the so-called “Echo Wall.”
