Carlo Goldoni's comedy "Krach in Chioggia" (1761) tells of love, jealousy, and the abysses of cohabitation: In the small port town of Chioggia, a harmless flirt is enough to upset a web of relationships. Misunderstandings escalate, rumors spread, and playful quarrels turn into bitter seriousness. It shows how quickly communities can tip – whether in the fishing village of the 18th century or between desk islands and virtual group chats. Calis, known for documentary time theater, brings Goldoni's classic to the stage with a modern perspective on social roles, gender images, and power dynamics.
