Sunday matinee with Tabita Berglund and Maximilian Hornung
Experience a classical concert featuring works by Dvořák, Nielsen, and Tchaikovsky. Tabita Berglund conducts the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, with Maximilian Hornung shining on the cello.
At this Sunday matinee, the Norwegian conductor Tabita Berglund leads the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. As soloist, cellist Maximilian Hornung interprets Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104—one of the most significant works in the cello repertoire, characterized by lyrical depth and virtuosic brilliance. The program also includes Carl Nielsen’s *Helios Overture*, Op. 17, a musical depiction of sunrise that impresses with radiant sounds and Nordic lightness. The evening concludes with a suite from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet *The Nutcracker*, Op. 71a, featuring well-known melodies such as the *Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy*. Romanticism, Nordic soundscapes, and Russian ballet music come together to create a diverse concert evening.
